Pianist and Composer
Jean was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. His father was a famous evangelist and insisted that his children listened strictly to classical and sacred music. But the rhythms of the island could be heard nightly out in the streets. The family eventually moved to Montreal, Canada where Jean received his music education at Canada's Royal Conservatory of Music. While still in Montreal, he met the sister of jazz great, Oscar Peterson, who introduced him to jazz; and he dove in to learn all he could. Jean later moved to the United States and studied piano at Andrews University and Indiana University. He now performs a variety of genres ranging from classical to gospel, but jazz is still his passion.
