Welcome to the Dowagiac Dogwood
Fine Arts Festival web site.
May 9,
2008, begins the 17th season for the Dogwood Festival which
promises to be another memorable week of activities!
This years' visiting author is novelist, Ivan Doig. We also feature storyteller Carmen Agra Deedy, and
the unique video and film festival of dance called "Dancing Outside the Box," both
who are sure to keep you on your toes. The annual
"Visual Arts Day" features
a lecture and gallery reception with Jeanine Coupe-Ryding, a teacher at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and the Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, Michigan.
You won't want to miss the presentation by Beckwith Theatre
of Married Alive!, a musical that looks in on two married couples, one newlywed and the other one ... um ... experienced.
Returning favorites, The Dogwood Tea (this year's theme is "When East Meets West"), Toast
'n Jam, a unique musical event
especially for children featuring the musical group Lake Effect Winds and the annual Youth
Fine Arts Night.
We'll end the festival's week with folk legend Arlo Guthrie, who like his father Woody, has become a national treasure. His music and wit speak to the hearts and minds of people all over this country. You won't want to miss this rare opportunity!
Truly the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival is a festival that offers something for
everyone!
