Brian’s wooden assemblage entry into the 2016, May event was chosen “Best in Show” by esteemed local art judges. The work entitled “Autobiography” was a playful representation of the artist’s life and some of the events and memories most important to him.
Brian describes his work as a representation of the journey we each take through life. Much like the woods used in his assembled stories (sculptures) they mirror many parts of our lives. Some people, experiences, and stories are vivid and colorful, while others are raw and unfinished. Brian says “We all carry with us the influences of the people we meet on our journey. We are each different – but in many ways the same.” Brian’s art reflects that familiar response, with a twist. Brian is comfortable with a palette of bright colors, which seems to give his works a casual look and whimsical, playful, approachable character.
